About Herdsman Lake Wildlife Centre:

Encounter birds and other native fauna while walking through the vibrant Herdsman Lake Regional Park. The wildlife centre, opened in 1984, is the main building in the park and has a wonderful mezzanine viewing level with binoculars. Opportunities abound to spot a variety of native and exotic birds. The centre also has a series of aquariums with a range of reptiles and other creepy crawlies plus an excellent educational natural history section. This park has some fantastic walkways and there are some superb picnic spots. Access to the Park is via a number of suburban streets including Jon Sanders Drive, Herdsman Parade, Flynn Street and Pearson Street. The Wildlife Education Centre is located at the corner of Flynn and Selby Streets. The settler's cottage can be accessed from Pearson Street. Parking is available at the Wildlife Education Centre, North Lake Park, Glendalough Open Space, the Settler's Cottage and Maurice Hamer Park. Quiet suburban streets surrounding the Park provide good walking and cycling environments. A dual use pathway borders the Park along Jon Sanders Drive. This route connects into the existing suburban streets to link with other sections of the Park. TransPerth operates a number of bus services to areas surrounding the Park. Buses stopping along Pearson Street (Churchlands) provide convenient access to the Park.Herdsman has playground facilities, a wildlife viewing centre, the lake, grassed parklands and kilometres of walking and cycling tracks. An original settler's cottage, one of many built during the 1920s and 1930s, has recently been refurbished.
