  Great time out on the small boat seeing whales and other wildlife! Captain was friendly and did a fantastic job finding several whales. It was a very good choice over the typical cruise ship excursions!

  We had an amazing tour guide/captain. He is extremely accommodating and knowledgable about the area. The captain turned off the engine of the boat so that the whales were not disturbed. We waited patiently for a few minutes, then 6 - 7 humpback whales surfaced around our boat. Some were very close, we got amazing picture and videos. We were able to stay out in the ocean for almost an hour to capture this amazing encounter. Excellent excursion, I highly recommend it.

  After a kayaking trip fell through on my recent trip to Sitka, I decided I still wanted to spend some time on the water. I booked Sea Wildlife tour with Baranof Tours. I was a bit skeptical before arriving, because Baranof tours seemed to be the most advertised and available, including at the last minute. I’m happy to report that my skepticism was misplaced. I couldn’t imagine the tour being better. The boat was a small boat with seating for the captain and five other passengers. Our captain, Tad, answered all of the questions from the five visitors on board. Tad did his best to customize the experience to our interests and what we wanted to see. We saw several whales, seals, sea lions, and otters. We also got a nice view of the volcano. I’ve been on several whale watches before where you see whales, but that is about it. There is little to no interaction with the captain or the other passengers. In this case, passengers actually talked and shared pictures and videos. Tad did a great job of answering questions and providing interesting facts about what we were seeing. On this tour, I felt I got a level of personalized service and a tour the catered to me. For that reason, I will consider this a highlight of my time in Sitka. Not only would I take the trip again if could, but I wouldn’t even consider any of the other tour companies.

  Wow, what a glorious day we had out on the boat with Tad. We had a total of 4 people on the tour. The small boat setting was perfect for the Sitka waters. We saw humpback whales several times (each time Tad slowed / stopped the boat and took time for us to enjoy watching - we saw spy-hopping (head popping out) and tail flukes when diving. We also saw many sea lions, a number of sea otters close up, a porpoise, and a seal. The small boat allowed us to get close to rock outcroppings / islands where the marine wildlife like to hang out. Tad was a great guide and boat captain. Completely delightful!

  We loved our tour where we saw humpback whales, sea lions, sea otters, seals and cormorants and were able to take so special photos. Our captain was very knowledgeable and flexible as we were able to track the whales when they appeared. The relatively small boat was an advantage as it brought us closer to the wildlife and it could manoeuvre quickly when needed. We would strongly recommend this experience to other visitors to Sitka.

  I read the reviews before I booked this tour and it was so worth it me and my little family went out and got to see seals sea otters and got to see some whales the guy that took us out was very informative he knew alot about sitka and the animals the staff was very friendly and helpful calling me back and making arrangements for us to do the tour I would highly recommend this company for the tours they made this trip with my family something we will never forget

  We went out with Tad who was, overall, very good. We had a beautiful day, and there were 4 people on the boat. Tad was very responsive to what we'd like to see. We went out to a rocky island where there were a few otters, a few harbor seals who poked their heads up, bald eagles, and some other birds. Then we went out to where some other boats seemed to have found some whales, and we did see (pretty close) a whale's back and tail. Tad told some interesting stories about the kelp growth and how the otters are indirectly helping the overall environment. He also was nice enough to email us some pictures. Our only area for improvement would be to tell us a little bit more about the wildlife in the area (kinds of whales, why certain birds/animals were in the area and whether they were there year-round, etc.).

  My girlfriend and I took a cruise with a stop in Sitka. Rather than book a trip from the cruise line, we decided to see what was available at the dock. We found this tour and it was quite a bit less expensive than what was offered through Holland America.It was a 24' aluminum boat that was in very nice condition and although they wanted to have four passengers, we were the only ones to go. So basically we had a personal tour and we saw many whales and I got some great photos and videos. I was very impressed and kind of felt sorry for all the folks crammed onto the large whale watching vessels for more money. I would recommend this trip.

  Deze excursie zal niemand teleurstellen. De ervaren bemanning van de catamaran zorgt ervoor dat je altijd zeearenden, zeeotters en bultruggen kunt zien. Als je geluk hebt misschien ook zeeleeuwen en ander wild. De verzorging en uitleg aan boord zijn uitstekend.
