I booked this dinner cruise to help my husband and I get out of the pandemic doldrums... we needed something different and uplifting. We rushed to get to the Pier for the 5pm departure but due to traffic we arrived at about 5:03pm. My husband ran to the ship and I was close behind him. There were 2 staffers and they didn't speak to us, and no people were on the bridge, so we were perplexed. We asked if we could come aboard. One said nothing the other said no and began removing ropes and preparing for disembarkment. As we were talking to the guy, about 15 people arrived who also were supposed to be in the ship. They were also told they could not come aboard. Apparently 5pm was not the boarding time but the time the bridge would be drawn and doors closed! That wasn't communicated well. I admit that we were 3 minutes late but they literally looked at and talked to us for at least 10 minutes! In the end about 20 people had missed the boat and were left trying to figure out what to do. The representative at the booth said we had to go back to whomever we booked with to see if we could get the next ship or a refund. I called Viator and was told there was no way to transfer the reservation to the next ship and it would take 7-10 business days for someone to get back to me regarding a refund. It has been 10 days. I haven't heard from anyone.

I arrived on time to the ticket window and walked down to where the boat was docked. Upon arrival a crew member was standing there and refused to let us on. There approximately 15 other people there as well , with tickets , that he would not let on! He stated we were to late. (I looked at my clock and it was 5:01. ) All the passengers who were not allowed on board stood on the dock for another 15 min while the boat was docked, and the crew members just looked at us from above. Such horrible customer service and left such a bad taste in my mouth for Chicago. I planned this trip months ago and this dinner cruise was a surprise. So disgusted and disappointed with hw we were treated ! Do the crew remembers get to take home the left over food if people don't show ? ! Im pretty clueless as to why this happened. There is a non-refundable policy , but I will be fighting for my $300 since we were victims of this unfair treatment !

Beautiful skyline at night! The best part of the trip! Buffet was okay. Service was below average. Ship was a little worn down. Could use a refresh. Beware of the spiders at dusk on outer decks.

Don't meet at the Tiny Tavern, they have nothing to do with it. They departed late (it was raining). Tried to order bottles of wine for our party of 6 only to be told they can't find a wine opener anywhere on the boat. Took an hour and 20 mins to receive a can of truly. Our server forgot to input a different round of drinks for 30 mins. They docked the boat earlier than scheduled so we just sat on top deck docked until they told us we had to leave because they had another party coming on. We were very excited for this experience as we were celebrating a 40th birthday. It was all just very disappointing...the food, the drinks, the service, the experience. We tried to be understanding as they were understaffed but dang, not worth that kind of money.

This excursion had such potential, but it was not managed well. The food was average…. they couldn’t find the wine closet key…the drink order was incorrect and we finally cancelled it…there was repetitive base rock music…the event was supposed to be 2.5 hours and it ended after 2 hrs… I was embarrassed because i was the one that chose and paid for 2 other couples

the view, music, friends, and food were good. service was absolutely terrible. we sat at our table for over an hour with no drinks. after asking for our wine 4 separate times, we were informed that there was no bottle opener on board. We ordered 3 bottles of wine. We then placed an order for separate drinks and it took an additional 30 min to receive. It was an extreme service nightmare for the price we paid for the experience..

Surprising to me this turned out to be an awful experience. Tiny Tavern is NOT where you get your boarding pass for "Spirit of Chicago". It's outside and 2 more kiosks down the Pier from the actual tavern. The food choices were a failure. The fish was not good, and the broccoli was too spicy hot. How do you serve mashed potatoes without a gravy. We each got Bud Light beer, then we ordered another they were sold out, so we picked the Miller. Then ordered another Miller they were sold out. The boat was not full maybe, 60 guests on the 5 pm cruise. It was disappointing. The staff was kind, and but only fairly attentive.
