After your canoe tour if you would like to stop by the gift shop or try some Alaska delicacies that are featured at some fun food trucks. Shuttles run every 30 minutes back to Icy Strait Point.

PLEASE ARRIVE 15 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR TOUR IS SCHEDULED TO DEPART, OUT OF COURTESY TO OTHERS WE LEAVE ON TIME.

If your ship is docked at the Adventure Dock, proceed ashore to the Icy Strait Point Adventure Center. Once inside the Adventure Center walk through the building and exit through door number "2". (This is clearly marked.) Follow the signs to along the gravel path to the Excursion Hub. The total walking time is 15 minutes, please allow extra time if you are not a fast walker. We ask that you check in 15 minutes early and we leave on time.

If your ship is docked at the Wilderness Dock this is a 40 minute walk, or you may ride the Transporter Gondola(3 minute ride) to the Adventure Center. If you walk, once your arrive at the Adventure Center follow signs to the Excursion Hub. If you take the gondola, once you step off of the gondola you should see a sign for the Excursion Hub. Take a left and follow path to the Excursion Hub.

Please check in with the Hoonah Travel Adventure Representative when you arrive at the Hub!

If you are arriving via AK Seaplanes or AK Marine Hwy please call before your trip to make other arrangements.

If you will be stopping in Icy Strait Point on your cruise, this is a must do! First, let me just say how wonderful they were to wait for our group when our ship docked late. They bent over backwards to make sure we didn’t get left behind. And I’m so thankful because this excursion was a highlight of our trip. I learned so much about the beautiful Tlingit culture of the history of Hoonah. Everyone was lovely and safety practices were excellent. They will make you feel comfortable paddling in the authentic canoe while telling stories and singing songs and observing the beautiful scenery. Book this tour!!! I will remember this experience forever and hope to go back and do it again one day!

We scheduled this experience as part of a cruise trip. We were the only visitors on the trip and loved every minute with Darlene, our storyteller and host, and rest of the crew. We leaned about the Tlinglet history, enjoyed the beautiful day, and helped row a handmade traditional dugout canoe. I think this is the most meaningful experience in Hoonah!!

What a wonderful Cultural Experience. It was great fun to paddle the dugout canoe with the First Nation People. Our guide, Darlene, told us stories about the history of the Tlingit people and sang native songs. I would highly recommend this excursion not only for the fun, but also for learning about Alaskan history.

This excursion far exceeded our expectations. From the moment that we met Darlene our magical tour began. Her knowledge and truly warm and easy going nature made for an incredible adventure. From the actual in the water experience listening to the singing of native songs to an echo call to the shore this was an awesome tour. The bonus was the history and storytelling of the Tlingit culture. Darlene brought home the experience and history of the native people. This excursion was worth every penny and we would do it again in a heartbeat.

Had a fabulous afternoon with Tlingit listening to native songs and hear and learning about culture was fabulous. Very relaxing had a great time. Staff very professional. Only small bags on canoe and if you have large bag they will put it in the other boat to follow. Canoe was a 453 year old spruce and paddles made from that tree! Very cool and unique experience!

We paddled on a Tlingit canoe just out in the harbor area of Hoonah, Alaska. There was a guide who told stories about the migration of the Tlingit people from Glacier Bay to their current location in Hoonah and Icy Strait Point. The ride wasn't very long, but it was interesting and a fun way to spend time in that area. We walked all the way from the cruise ship to Hoonah and it was a beautiful walk!

What a wonderful experience. We paddled. We listened to stories. We saw eagles & whales. We learned about their culture. I feel privileged to have spent the day with this team. What a wonderful group of people. Thank you for sharing your beautiful village with us.

We went on the canoe and had Jolene and Darlene by our sides for the afternoon. We learned a lot about local history and saw some amazing views from the water. It was really a one of a kind experience and we highly recommend this excursion.

Had a wonderful experience. Pick ups just steps from icy Strait port. Great safety briefing and just cool being in an authentic dug out canoe! Oral history and songs and tranquility experience on the water!

Highly recommend this as an alternative to the standard Alaskan excursion. You really get the chance to learn and absorb the local culture. The canoe was built by the people who you tour with. Our paddle was carved by a woman who rowed with us! You learn how the boat was built from a 450 year old tree from the island. You get to hear the local language and their stories. Really cool experience!
