  Katie is a phenomenal tour guide. She asked what we would like to see (when I booked the reservation) then gave us an itinerary. We decided on 2 waterfalls, black sand beach, volcano, and Kaumana Caves. We got poured on at Akaka Falls but she said it was the best waterfall she has seen. She was totally prepared; an umbrella for me, a raincoat for my husband...she is super knowledgeable and a great person to spend the day with. We crammed a lot into 12 hours. I would definitely use her again! Thank you, Katie!

  What an amazing 2.5 days. We engaged with Katie and Hawaii for a private custom 2.5 day tour and had a spectacular experience. After a couple of conversations with Katie in advance of our trip, she skillfully pulled together an action-packed itinerary for us. We did a private boat tour of the Kona coast for sightseeing and snorkeling; a zipline; a doors-off helicopter tour of the Wimea Valley (spectacular); tour of a local coffee plantation; visit to the black sand beach to spot turtles; a nighttime drive to the top of the recently erupted volcano to see glowing lava; even some private picnics with food from great local shops and unexpected dining spots. Kate was also hyper-aware of appropriate health and sanitation protocol during our tour. If your travel budget allows for a private tour - book this company! If your travel budget is more focused and you need a group tour - book this company. Either way, you'll have a fantastic experience!

  I went to the Big Island for a week by myself and it was the best experience ever! All the other people in my group were great and our tour guide Clare made the week very special for us. There was a good vibe from the beginning, thanks to her!! We saw so many beautiful places and Clare knew everything about it. She taught us all the history behind the spots we visit, her knowledge is insane! She answered us every single question, made sure we all liked it and that everyone is happy. It was also very flexible, we were able to decide together what places we would rather go to which was great. We hiked through rain forest to one of the crater of the volcano Kilauea, went to waterfalls, saw different beaches (white, black, green beaches),turtles, snorkeled and so many more things!! Clare is so organized and she thinks even about the little things what I appreciated the most and makes the week very easy. You can tell that she does her job with passion and loves, showing people the best of the Big Island. Thank you so much Clare, I will never forget this incredible week!!!

  This was an outstanding experience, especially with our tour guide Clare. It was clear that she had broad knowledge and experience in both snorkeling and hiking. I have only tried snorkeling once before, but she made it very comfortable. Our trip went around the big island and Clare gave us a lot of information about Hawaii and its history. I can only recommend this trip to others, and especially to choose Clare as a tour guide, because you will be secured an extraordinary adventure in good hands.

  I had such a great week in Hawaii! I still cant believe how much we saw and experienced! My favorite part was probably the day at the volcano national park, but I also loved seeing the waterfalls at the Hilo side and doing a hike down pololu valley. Our tour guide Clare was the best guide ever, she was really great and knows what she is doing!

  Amazing tour! Clare was able to show us the entire island in 7 days, bring us to the prettiest places and tell us all about the history, the culture and landscapes of Hawai'i. She also made me feel really comfortable in the water, which is something I have been struggling with. Seeing her so calm, and her reassuring gestures to check on me under water have helped me to enjoy my snorkeling adventures and make the most out of this trip!

  Can’t believe all we saw in one day! And how much we learned! We took an incredible one-full-day private tour for our party of 5 (4 adults and one child, our nine-year-old daughter) with the amazing Claire. She picked us up early in the morning at our hotel on the western coast (Fairmont Orchid) and thus began an incredible day of fun, adventure, tons of laughs, and learning about the amazing Hawaiian islands, their geological history, their political history, the Hawaiian culture, and much more. We hiked into a lava tube, sang in the pitch black, stopped at an incredible black and green sand beach, practically tripped over green sea turtles, climbed on huge volcanic rocks, saw fish ponds, some of us swam and snorkeled, had a wonderful lunch and cold brew Kona coffee in the enchanting old town of Hilo (this under-appreciated town turned out to be our favorite town of all), took a quick ukelele lesson (that inspired me to buy my own which would soon come in handy!) with the charming and excellent Uncle Euk. Claire allowed us plenty of flexibility to spend our time as we liked. For example she took us by a wonderful farmer's market in Hilo where we were able to sample and purchase some of the most delicious fresh fruit we found on our entire trip, including a soursop! Then began the actual volcanic part of the voyage. We hiked around three incredible calderas, with steam vents all around, and saw intricate aspects of the volcano such as lava trees. It was truly like being on another planet, like some scene out of the original Star Trek series. As if by magic, near the very end of the day, in the waning sunlight, there appeared a perfect full-arch rainbow. Obviously Claire cannot guarantee rainbows and perfect timing, but it was a part of the magical energy of our day, laughing, learning, and being amazed by the beauty and majesty all around us. We were having such a fantastic time we neglected to stop for dinner and decided to just grab a late bite afterwards at our hotel. En route there we stopped for gas and snacks at 7-11. And somewhere in there we even stopped at the coolest playground ostensibly for the sake of our daughter but all 6 of us had a blast. The booking process with Hawaiian Outdoor Guides was super easy, and they spent a good amount of time on the phone and by email communicating to make sure the experience would be to our liking. Claire in particular is an incredibly hard-working, dedicated, and talented guide who brings her commitment, knowledge, experience, intelligence, communication skills, and great sense of humor to the job, making her able to work well with a variety of people of different interests, ages, levels of adventure. And she is a great driver! Highly recommended and a good value compared to other available agencies which did not demonstrate nearly the same level of customer service or flexibility.

  I really liked the tour of the big island in Hawaii. We spent the first 2 days at a beach camping where we went snorkeling and got to see whales, turtles and dolphins. Our guide for the first 3 days was Bryce who was great. He really made us have an amazing time and knew a lot about snorkeling and the whole island. For the trip to the volcano National Park we had Clare as our guide. She also was an amazing guide and had a ton of information about about the Volcanos and the history and made us have a great rest of the week. All in all I had one of the best weeks of my life with a great group amazing guides and so many unforgettable experiences! I highly recommend this tour!

  This was my first time on a group tour and it was amazing. My favorite part was waking up at the beach and go snorkeling in the morning. We also visited a lot of incredible spots around the Big Island, went hiking, tried local food... Our guides (Bryce and Clare) were super nice and helpful, thank you so much!
