We took two trips (loop Road to Hana and West Maui Coastline Tour) using the app. We had little difficulty at the very beginning. Once we figured out how to use it, it’s very helpful. We enjoyed all the histories, stories, music, and legends during our driving tours. The GPS offline map was very accurate. We leaned a lot about Maui on the long drive. This app was the best purchase we did for the vacation. We will definitely recommend to our friends who want to explore Maui like travelers rather then vacationers.

My 92-year-old father was able to hear and understand our tour guide much better than he would have a microphoned speaker on a noisy bus. We both loved the stories, the music, and the coaching through the challenging bits. I already bought the tours for Kauai and I wish I would have known about Shaka Guide when I was in Oahu!

Really helpful guide! We’ve done two of Maui tours so far and plan to do a third. Love the suggestions along the way of things not to miss and those you can skip when time is running short. We did some incredible side excursions that I’m sure we would have missed otherwise. Would have liked to have had more time prompts on the Road to Hana (or even having the app check the time on your phone) as we ran out our time getting into the park at the end. Overall well worth it!

Great information and easy to navigate and highlight what to see and place importance on each stop. I Simply wish that we would have known the pools were closed To swimming (as they seem to Always be) so we could have stopped ON the way to Jump off the cliff versus be alerted on the way back and there was no parking. That was disappointing. All in all great and easy tour guide

We used the Shaka app for the Road to Hana in Maui. So glad we did because even though I had researched and knew a little of what to expect, that road is a little crazy. The guide was very helpful in making us feel like we weren’t missing out and knowing when to stop. It was easy to use and we enjoyed the upbeat narrator, the music, and found the history on the stops informative. When the tour ended, we were kind of sad not to have our guide for the rest of our trip! Easy to download beforehand since cell service is very limited on the Hana Hwy. It’s also very flexible. We did the road over two and a half days and the tour was for one day. We just stopped and started it as we wanted and it never had a problem knowing where we were.

Fun stories about the history of Hawaii. We loved that we could start anywhere on the tour and make extra stops if we wanted to or skip stops if we didn’t want to stop. Very flexible and a great value.

While we got the Maui package, we mostly used the Haleakalā tour and the Classic Road to Hana. We did a little of the west coast tour as we drove in that area. We all loved the naration, especially on the road to Hana. We appreciated knowing which stoops were worthwhile and which weren't. Also, there are some side trips recommended on the Road to Hana that we took that were worthwhile. The included information on history and folklore was also very interesting. This appealed to both adults and our children (8 and 10). We highly recommend using the app. For background, 19 years ago, I did the Road to Hana and bought a cassett and map on the way to starting the trip. That was a wonderful experience so when I went to take my family, I was looking to see what the updated version was. That is how I found the Shaka Guide and it did not dissapoint.

Incredible trip around Maui. Loved learning what I was looking at. Recommendations for where to stop, where to eat, what to do. We already planned to stop at many of the recommended places, but loved hearing we planned wisely. Great way to learn myths and legends of the island and how to pronounce things. To top it off, we were happy to learn the man behind the app, Andrew was a local and recommended by the gal at Paia Gelato. So glad she was open for us to grab food for the road to Hana. The West Loop on HONOAPIILANI hwy is not for the faint of heart! Enjoy.
