Brian was awesome. He intertwined history with personal stories that made it all so close to home. What really made a difference, though, was that while he shared the facts of that day, his tour focused on the positive - the rebuilding, the regrowth, the promise of the future. That had a huge impact on me, and I thank him for that.
I went to St Patrick’s Instead of St Paul’s. By the time I realized it was too late to get to St Paul’s so I took a Lyft & emailed about my situation & how I could try reconnect with the group. I also called to no avail. Disappointing
Our tour guide, Ray Victor, expressed with emotion, the days of the 9/11 disaster and the years following that impacted New Yorkers and our country. His gift was his personal connections to that day that made it come alive for us all. As he said, if all you want is a few facts, search it on Google. If you want first hand encounters of personal experiences , go on the tour with Ray and these folks from Experience First. Ray helped our group understand that despite the horror, the strength and hope of the American people came through. I only wish that Ray had built in enough time for us to personally express our gratitude at the end of the tour to let him know how much he impacted our lives. Thank you, Ray!
This was a Must Do for me and I have no regrets. I am fascinated with the personal experiences of the people touched by the events of 9/11. Julie, our guide, was personable and so willing to share her story. I thank her for that because I know it's not easy. The museum is so tastefully done, haunting and heartbreaking. It is a true way to "Never Forget".
Ibeth was our guide and she was fantastic! She is so passionate about this tour and the events she witnessed on that horrible day, it really come across in her commentary. You can tell she wants people to get a feel for what it was like to be there that day, but also how it has affected the people and how they are moving on and using the events to be stronger than before but appreciate what you have around you; live in the moment. It was a great message. The tour provided a great perspective on the events of the day and the aftermath. You tour all of the area, the chapel that is still standing just a block away from the ground, and you get a feel for what is being rebuilt in the area, it definitely feels alive and vibrant. You tour the memorial and the grounds where the towers used to stand, it’s a powerful but peaceful place to be. The museum is wonderful, it’s got a lot of information and artifacts from the survivors and victims, you definitely get to know them on a personal level, you feel more connected to them and the area. The large pieces of the buildings and even the destruction noted to the cars is very eye opening and well demonstrated in the museum. There is a large memorial wall where you can look up information on the victims who died in the attacks, which again helps it feels more personal and allows you to have a connection to the events. It’s definitely a nice tribute to those who died. The only con (this 4 stars vs 5) I would say is that the beginning of the tour felt a bit chaotic. We had some late stragglers join our group but there was another group with less members that they ended up joining, and it caused a bit of a delay in getting started with the tour. We also paused for an “extended” bathroom break in the oculus which I think caused another delay in the tour. All of this meant that we had to rush through the museum because it was near closing time, which was unfortunate. It didn’t deter from the tour and the overall feel of the day. The tour is well put together and does well to put the events into perspective for those who were not there that day. Would definitely recommend to anyone! Would love to experience it again.
