Took this food tour on a Saturday right before lunar new year with my husband and sister. Our guide was nice and it was fun to be in Chinatown with so much hustle and bustle. We definitely learned a lot about the area and the history. The food was all pretty good, but unadventurous. It also felt like our 3-hour tour could have easily been condensed to two. The tour company said we would need to be vaccinated to do the tour, but no one ever checked our vaccination cards, even though almost every other place we went in San Francisco did. We also were packed pretty tight into the restaurants with the other strangers on our tour, which given Covid, I didn't love. Would probably give this tour a 3.5 if we could do half stars. It was nice, but not something I need to do again.

Lauren's food tour of Chinatown's was fantastic! She knows a ton about the area's history and, even though I'm from here and have spent a bunch of time in Chinatown, I learns a lot. The food was delicious and I was stuffed by the time we had finished. I highly recommend this experience!

My siblings and I took our mom to San Francisco for a birthday celebration. I booked this tour based on a recommendation from friends who had recently went and it did not disappoint. Our tour guide, Lauren, was amazing and made the whole experience memorable. The tour was full of delicious food (no one went hungry!!) and 4-6 separate dining locations, plus a handful of historical/educational locations. It was a really cool way to learn about the history of and and current day Chinatown. The walk wasn't too bad considering the hills SF is known for...our whole group managed just fine and Lauren was great about speed and breaks. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

We took the Chinatown Food Tour as a team event for work. Even though we all work in an office building just 15 minutes walk from Chinatown, we had never experienced all the different food options available in just a few square blocks. Our guide Lauren shared some of the history of Chinatown and introduced us to several excellent dishes. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon with co-workers and enjoy trying some new cuisine.

Our guide Lauren was just AWESOME! She was knowledgeable, entertaining and a joy to be with. We had a private tour of Chinatown and North Beach. Food was amazing and we learned new things about the area, history and culture of the communities. Thanks Lauren! We hope to see you again on our next adventure.

My mom and I went on this tour at the beginning of our trip in San Francisco. As a resident food tour expert, (I’ve gone on ones in NYC, Brussels, Munich, and Geneva) I was stoked to try this one! This tour is through the same company that does the pizza tours in New York, and did not disappoint. Laura was awesome at not only giving us a history lesson about San Francisco itself but also the history of immigration to the city and the creation of Chinatown, the Gold Rush, and the impact of Adrian culture here in the states as well as across the Pacific. The food was scrumptious, starting with classic bao buns, and ending with a tea tasting. The tour was so fun, and as my mom’s first food tour in a city, the Chinatown food tour has her hooked for future cities!

Excellent selection of dishes, fantastic amount of food overall - paired with a great historical insight of the area. Lauren was a wonderful guide and I absolutely recommend this tour to anyone looking to know Chinatown a bit more intimately while eating great food. Be sure to take her up on the tea tasting at the end!!

Our Chinatown food tour was an unexpected highlight of our trip to San Francisco! Our impressive tour guide, Marvin, was knowledgeable, informative, professional and personable. My husband and I went with my 80 year old mother. We were initially concerned that the 3 hour walking tour might be too much for her. Happily, this was not the case. The constant stops for explanations and tastings made the time fly by for all of us. Our tour had a small group of 11 people from various areas of the country and various ages. We were taken to 5 different eating establishments. Three of the restaurants involved quick stops where Marvin brought the food outsie to us. We ate while listening to Marvin talk about the history of the Chinatown, it's people, and the food. We also went inside two other restaurants and had sit-down meals, again with explanations about the food, history, and the establishments. As we walked, Marvin stopped along the way to point out prominent areas and people of Chinatown--from card players in the park, to a Buddhist Temple, to Mah Jongg games in a side alley. One of our favorite stops was at the fortune cookie factory where we saw how the cookies were made, given samples to eat, and learned the history behind the tasty cookie. At the end, we were also treated to a complimentary tea tasting session at a local tea establishment. This tour is so much more than just a food tour! You will not be disappointed.

We enjoyed every second and learned a ton about the area and food. Lauren is a great hostess and couldn’t be more hospitable. Food was plentiful and if you wanted more you felt comfortable asking. You really don’t need more but not a problem at all. Best bread/buns I’ve ever had. Loved the tea tasting as well. I could have stayed all day. Caution to the unwise, make sure you park where it’s allowed for the ENTIRE time you will be there. SF will tow for around $600.
