The booking for this trip was done over the phone and was a very efficient process. It was followed up by confirmation emails with very good and accurate information, and the day before I received another phone call to confirm everything was a go. We met at the Pilar Cafe and parked at visitor center across the highway. Just a tip, get to the café early and order one of their great breakfast burritos! Bill was our guide and had everything ready to go. Once we arrived at the put in area, the inflatable raft and kayak came out and we were in the water after a safety briefing. All of the equipment was in excellent condition and was well-maintained. We did the full day tour and the first half was fairly calm with just a few very small areas of rapids. We stopped for lunch a few miles down stream, which was prepared by Bill and was very good. Homemade potato salad, fresh fruit, homemade dip and a variety of sandwiches. After lunch we headed to the race course section of the river. It was challenging but very enjoyable. Bill gave me tips along the way which made things a lot easier and more enjoyable. If you’re going on a raft trip on the Rio Grande near Taos, I would highly recommend Far Flung Adventures!

Hank the general was exceptional and entertaining. We quickly appreciated the bootcamp like approach of listening to his commands. Listen to Hank and you will have a terrific ride.

The guide was great, very interesting and entertaining. We discussed geology, history, running the river at different times of year, and other rafting adventures in northern New Mexico. Even though the water is low this time of year the guide made the experience fun and exciting. Everything was well organized, and there was a good focus on safety and fun.

We had such a wonderful time with Bill as our guide. His in depth knowledge of the surrounding culture of Native American history made this experience well worth it.

This was such a fun experience. We thought that the Rapids would be a bit boring because its late in the season and not a super tough course. It was really fun for our teenagers and us. Even in the lower water it was exciting. There are a lot of rapids and more technical turns. Our guide, Nick, was incredible. Thank you for making our Taos trip memorable. We will be back for more in May or June when the rapids are even better!

We went on the race course with Jane from South Africa. Of course she had a wonderful accent, but her knowledge and experience were fantastic! She called the river a class two or three Rapids with class IV paddling, but it was a fantastic experience! And I don’t know if the other towards offer the pictures but they were a huge benefit!!

We had a great first time river rafting with Shawn and Far Flung. My husband and I, plus our two kids aged 8 and 10 really enjoyed the entire experience! The trip was our favorite part of the NM vacation.

Really enjoyed spending the morning on "Racecourse" with the team from Far Flung Adventures. The guides were all great - especially ours. ;-) Even though the trip was coming out of COVID they did a great job of making everyone feel safe. Will likely be back to do another course with Far Flung.
